The story behind Raikku Ranch
Behind Raikku Ranch are the hosts, Riku-Sippo and Tuula. Riku-Sippo represents the third generation on this century-old farm.
Over a hundred years ago, Jalmari Uotila was considering where to build his home. He chose a nearby open field by the shores of Lake Raikunjärvi.
In time, Jalmari’s son Tauno Uotila took over the farm together with his wife Maija. They had three children – one son and two daughters. Today, the farm continues in its third generation. Tuula, originally from a farm in Joutsa, became the lady of the house.
In the early decades, the farm had dairy cows. Over the years, it has also produced eggs and grown onions, carrots, and strawberries. Poultry farming became the main line of production in the early 1980s.
The R3 festival has been held on the farm for over 20 years. Today, alongside agriculture, the farm is evolving into a nationally recognised countryside event venue. At its heart is a simple idea: creating joy and enabling meaningful encounters in an authentic farm setting.
